GNRC South Asia is a growing, multi cultural & ethnical, diverse & dynamic regional GNRC network. The South Asian Network was initiated in the year 2000 and is coordinated by the Sarvodaya Sharamadana Movement headquarters in Sri Lanka. As an Interfaith Network, GNRC South Asia is doing its utmost to help children to UNDERSTAND OTHERS better and to TRANSFORM THE WORLD, making it fit for them to live in.

We hope that children and the younger generations in South Asia can grow in a peaceful, safe and enabling environment, and that their voices are heard and considered in all forums of the society.

We also value working for peaceful societies, communities and neighbourhoods. This will in turn ensure that social justice, equality, respect and equal opportunities for all, regardless of class, colour, creed or tribe, are attained.

Through Peace Building, the GNRC South Asia mission is to work for the peaceful co-existence of all peoples. The network seeks to ensure that the culture of peace is upheld and maintained by respecting life and the right to live with dignity.

It is also important to note that many South Asian countries are still struggling with and trying to bring their civil wars and other conflicts to an end. Unfortunately these conflicts place a heavy drag on the development of the country by depriving the younger generation of their basic needs and education.
Currently there are six countries in the South Asian Region, including Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Since 2000 the GNRC South Asia network has organized a number of programs for & with children which centre around the themes of leadership training for peace building, promoting holistic growth of children, inter-faith prayers & peace education materials in regional languages. The emphasis in all the programs was putting forward the cause of children, the inter-faith nature of the work & engaging of local partners who share the vision of GNRC.
